Do you want to be great in life? Do you want to be successful? Who doesn't? For you to be great, you need to look at the lives of others who have been more successful than you. There are powerful men and women in the Bible that we can emulate. Abraham is the father of faith, Samson killed a lion with his bare hands, and David killed Goliath the giant. By his prayer, Joshua made the sun stand still for a whole day. The lion became mute in front of Daniel. Ezekiah has wonderful experiences with God. Elijah, the great was picked up by a chariot of fire straight to Heaven. Enoch walked with God, and we saw an incredible demonstration of God's power through the hand of Moses.
Yet, none of them--including David, the friend of God, was greater than John the Baptist. According to Jesus, John was the greatest prophet of all. In fact, He said this of him, "Among those born of women there is no one greater than John." (Lk 7:28a). Solomon was the wisest man and the wealthiest man who ever lived, and still Jesus gave the accolade to John. Why was that?
"For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb." (Lk 1:15). This is what John had over all other human beings; He had the Holy Spirit! If you go round to ask people who the greatest human beings of all time are, names like Alexander the Great, Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton etc will come up. Perhaps you see presidents and prime ministers to be the greatest.
I am here to tell you that you can be greater than all of these people if you can have the Holy Spirit in you. Yes, you heard me right. John the Baptist was greater than Moses because he had what Moses didn't have - the Holy Spirit. You, too, can have the Holy Spirit as early as today. Come with me, and let's learn more about Him.
