God told Adam that he would die the day he ate the fruit, and he did. Since then, we have struggled to live the life of Heaven. To solve this problem, Jesus, our second Adam, came to undo everything Adam did. After receiving Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour, we still have the same issues, and the Christian is not different from the unbeliever. They contend with similar problems. What went wrong? Well, our spirit man was the one that became new (2 Cor 5:17). One-third of you became alive, but the soul and body are our primary concerns here. To overcome or starve the body and soul is a gradual and painful process, but that is the only way that leads to life. The soul had been the one managing you till you got born again, and he will not easily give up; he will keep fighting. For this reason, all of us have internal struggles. We need our spirit man to be in charge of our life, not the soul. Once you discover this truth and walk in it, you will be successful both in the spiritual and the material world.

For our spirit to be in charge doesn’t require self-discipline, it needs the Spirit of God. The Spirit is not there to only assist us, but He is the one who stamps, seals, or marks us out as Christians. Most of us give our life to Jesus and try to live a holy life but we fail because it is not by strength. “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (Eze 36:27). The Spirit “causes” us to do things that please God. He also says in Ezekiel 37:14 that, “I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live.”  If you don’t have the Spirit, you are dead.

“To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Rom 8:6-8).
