FRAGMENT KSIĄŻKI
There was an old man who had a little shop
All day long he’d chop chop chop
He made lots of toys and puppets out of wood
And so many things that were oh so good
All the children in the village loved Geppetto, and he loved making toys for them more than anything in the world.
“What better reward could I have for my work than just seeing the happy smiles on all those little faces!”And the arms and hands and legs and feet, and then, one last chop and there stood the little puppet, like a real little boy!
“Well, it’s about time you got me out of there! It’s no fun being locked up in a block of wood, you know!’
The little old man couldn’t believe his ears
He was never so happy in all his years
His dream is coming true, and if it’s so
called the little wooden boy Pinocchio
And immediately he started to teach Pinocchio how to walk.
And Pinocchio took a step by himself, then another, and then suddenly he started running and he ran right out the door! That night, just as Pinocchio was about to fall asleep, a voice called out in the dark.
“Ya better shape up, kid!”
“Huh? Who’s that?”
“Crickety Cricket’s the name, and helping you is my game!”
“What do you want with me?”
“Like I’m your conscience, man, your guiding light, your guru, your giver-of-good advice.”
“Like what?”
“Like—little boys who run away—are gonna pay and pay and pay.”
“Oh go away—I don’t need you or your advice. I’m going to sleep!”
“Okay, whatever you say, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
