Poetycko-dokumentalny cykl amerykańskiego poety Charlesa Reznikoffa „Świadectwo” tworzą tzw. recytatywy, epickie utwory o dziejach Stanów Zjednoczonych z lat 1885-1915, oparte na amerykańskich księgach i rejestrach sądowych. Pisane metodą obiektywistyczną, czyli podążające za detalem, za tym, co widać i słychać, bez komentarza, bez oceny. Autor przytacza relacje świadków, ofiar i sprawców. To najambitniejszy projekt Reznikoffa. „Opracowując te epizody, wyobrażałem sobie, że jestem kimś w rodzaju archeologa. Nie wymyśliłem ich, ale nie wymyślili ich także autorzy pierwszych opisów. Wyczyściłem je ze słów, które wydawały mi się niekonieczne, tu i tam zastąpiłem je słowami, które wydały mi się bardziej wydajne niż oryginalne sformułowania, i kiedy tylko mogłem, wprowadzałem rytm, jak do wiersza”. Wyboru i przekładu dokonał Piotr Sommer.
Ta publikacja spełnia wymagania dostępności zgodnie z dyrektywą EAA.
